Since late 2022, Middlesbrough College has taken a strategic, whole‑organisation approach to the adoption of artificial intelligence across teaching, services and leadership. This session will explore how an FE college can implement AI ethically, inclusively and at scale, with a clear focus on enhancing learning, reducing workload and supporting learners with diverse needs.
Drawing on practical examples, the session will examine adaptive learning approaches, accessibility and SEND considerations, and the governance required for responsible AI use. Attendees will leave with clear insights into how AI can be embedded to benefit all learners and staff.
This session will be hosted by James Wells, Director: Digital Innovation & Support at Middlesbrough College

This session will guide you through the reality shifting events which have defined generation alpha, providing practical insights into how young people can be supported to develop social-emotional literacy and become digital civics, moving from survival to self-mastery.
Hosted by Marisa Ferguson, Student Development Lead at South Bank Colleges and NAMSS Regional Lead for London.

More details to follow.

Following the publication of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, the ICO have recently published guidance to support the education sector in sharing information to safeguarding children and young people. This session will provide a practical overview of the types of information which can be shared and when, providing attendees with an opportunity to ask questions and gain insight to help strengthen data sharing practices.
We have invited the ICO to host this session.

How can colleges build students’ digital health, digital literacy and focus in ways that are engaging, practical and scalable?
This workshop will explore how Chichester College Group has used their pioneering ‘Digital Badges’ model to embed healthier habits, build life skills and develop student knowledge in a way that feels visible, motivating and relevant. By gamifying key themes around focus, wellbeing and digital behaviour, Digital Badges offer an innovative route to student engagement and skill-building at scale.
Combining practical case study insight with discussion and Q&A, this session will spotlight what has worked in implementation, how student buy-in has been built, and what other colleges can take away from the model.
Hosted by Matt Wright, Director of Pastoral Support and Behaviour Management at Chichester Colleges Group.

How do we have more honest, productive conversations with young people about tech, without defaulting to fear, blame or oversimplification?
Led by members of FlippGen’s Digital Rebels, this interactive workshop will give delegates the opportunity to hear directly from young people working at the forefront of digital wellbeing, online safety and media literacy. Together, they will explore how educators can better understand students’ digital lives, where conversations about phones and platforms often go wrong, and what more supportive, credible and constructive dialogue looks like in practice.
Designed for FE staff working in safeguarding, pastoral support and student services, the session will offer fresh perspective, practical reflection and useful takeaways for anyone looking to engage young people more effectively around digital life.
Hosted by FlippGen’s Digital Rebels: a group of Gen Z people who refuse to accept the current state of the digital world
