Student Engagment Conference

NAMSS are thrilled to be hosting their fourth Student Engagement Conference; a one day event to share best practice, showcase ways to develop both enrichment and student voice within an organisation and, to network with practitioners and managers from across the UK.

Why do we need this conference? Enrichment and student voice have never been more important to support the development of our students life skills and confidence.  Personal Development and Behaviours & Attitudes can be directly impacted by student engagement and should be a key focus for all colleges.

Who is it for? The range of workshop and speakers makes this event relevant to both managers overseeing provision and, staff developing enrichment and student voice ‘on the ground’.

Workshops will show case best practice at operational and strategic level as well as profile organisations and initiatives that you can get involved in to support your programmes.

Here’s what delegates had to say about last year’s event:

“I think this event was perfect and I was encouraged to hear about the ways in which good and innovative practice are going to be shared in between meetings going forward.”

“This was my first NAMSS Conference since I took over the management of the Enrichment offer at The Manchester College and I found the workshops and opportunity to network and share best practice and experiences invaluable.”

“….That there are hundreds of people around the country trying to achieve similar goals – amazing to be surrounded by people with the same passion for students.”

Please take a look at the workshops before booking your tickets as you will need to select your chosen workshops as part of your booking.

This event is also open to non NAMSS members.   Save money on Conference Tickets by clicking here to become a NAMSS member before booking.

Flag !T: Student-Led Campaigning for Cultural Change

Gateshead College A Level students will present Flag !T, a student-led campaign showcasing the power of co-creation and learner-led decision making in driving meaningful cultural change.

Developed for inclusion in the Department for Education’s RSE toolkit (led by Polly Harrow), the campaign supports national efforts to encourage open, informed conversations around gender-based violence and misogyny across schools and colleges.

Emerging from sociology and criminology lessons, students explored themes including misogyny, micro-aggressions, healthy relationships, positive masculinity and the role of male allies. Working in partnership with an industry partner Design Director Alex Lockey, they transformed classroom learning into a supportive, educational campaign designed to inform and empower rather than blame.

This presentation will demonstrate how trusting students as partners in design and delivery builds confidence, skills, and agency, while helping colleges become more inclusive places to study and work.
