| Synopsis: | Nacro (originally established in 1966 as the ‘National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders’) is the national crime reduction charity. They have unrivalled expertise in developing effective solutions to crime and crime reduction and aim to give ex-offenders, those at risk of offending and other marginalized people, a positive stake in society.
This workshop will be run by staff from Nacro’s Resettlement Helpline, a service which gives advice and information to ex-offenders and those working with them, to help them access education, training and employment, and therefore lead more settled lives. The workshop will give an outline of the barriers to education, training and employment faced by ex-offenders (in particular which vocations/jobs may be restricted by certain offences). It will also touch on practical topics such as the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, the process of requesting disclosures through the Criminal Records Bureau, and how to identify, manage and monitor risks in the learning environment. Available: Monday 12.00 - 13.00 or 15.30 - 16.30 |
